Project Manager, Stakeholder and Public Engagement

Dialogue by Design is a small but growing company working at the leading edge of consultation and citizen engagement processes using both the Internet and face-to-face techniques. Our work centres on engagement processes around environmental issues, sustainable development, science and technology, corporate social responsibility, local participation and democracy.

We work in the public and private sectors and over the past two years have run projects for, among others, the Environment Agency, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the World Bank, the DTI, Small Business Service, Surrey County Council, Bedfordshire County Council, the North West Regional Assembly, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, London Waste Action, the British Wind Energy Association, the Energy Savings Trust, the Metropolitan police, the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) and Kent County Council.

We have developed innovative methods of running consultations over the Internet and integrating these with face-to-face stakeholder and public engagement processes.

We are looking for a project manager who will oversee and implement the delivery of projects. The work will include:

• Working closely with IT managers and Project Directors in the design and implementation of face-to-face and electronic consultations
• Recruiting and liaising with stakeholders and participants in consultation and engagement exercises
• Organising meetings and events
• Liaising with partners, facilitators and clients
• Managing systems to ensure the smooth running of projects, including project management systems and databases.

You will be educated to degree level and above, and ideally have several years experience of working with clients, customers and partners. You will be enthusiastic, able to work on your own and using your own initiative, and as part of a small team. You will have experience in some or all of the following areas:

• Consultation and engagement processes. You will have a good understanding of the theory and practice of community based engagement processes around issues such as land-use planning, building development or waste planning.

• Project management. You will have experience of day to day management of projects such as planning, designing and implementing a consultation process or outreach programme.

• Event organising and planning. You will be able to show you have experience in planning and organising participative events, conferences, seminars exhibitions etc

• Telefom scanning system, Access databases, Html, Excel and dreamweaver. Knowledge of other applications such as ASP is an advantage but not essential. Much of our consultation work involves web-based and paper based processes. We use online forms and databases to gather and collate findings so you will need to show you have these skills or at least the aptitude to learn them.

It is important that you have good interpersonal skills, can work in a small team and build good relationships with clients and stakeholders alike.

Our offices are in Thornton Heath in South London (a short train ride from Victoria and Clapham Junction).

For more information, or to send your CV and letter of application, please contact Pippa Hyam on 020 8683 6602 or [email protected].

Salary £22 - 26k per annum depending on experience

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 24th May 2006 (interviews will take place between 30th May and 6th June). Ideally the successful candidate would be able to start in June/July.
