SD Panel consultation on aviation

Challenging and thought provoking are two things that spring to mind when we look back on the responses received in the first session of the Sustainable Development Panel’s consultation on aviation. Panel members were asked to look at information that might be included in a booklet to be published about aviation, and also to give their feedback on a series of policy proposals and actions.

106 members participated in the first session and many supported the idea of a published booklet on aviation. Many members suggested additional aspects that should be included and others recommended further clarification on some sections. The idea of an overall strategic approach to help gain political, business and public buy-in at a national and international level was supported by many members.

The Panel is now able to take part in the second session of the consultation and we look forward to another set of responses that are just as interesting and useful as those received in the first. All the results will be made available for the public to view at the end of the consultation period via the SD Panel website.

The Essex Strategy - Your Essex, Your Say…

The Essex Partnership is now inviting views on various aspects of life in Essex, including the economy, communities, children and young people, environment and public services. All input along with information from each of the District Partnerships will help shape the Essex Strategy, a road map for Essex with a clear set of priorities that reflects the aspirations for the future of the County.

The first phase of consultation allows people to submit their views online via the consultation website or to request a paper version to submit by post.

Nuclear Decommissioning engagement review completed

After our update in March, we can now report that the review of the NDA's stakeholder engagement arrangements has been completed. If people wish to see the results of the review consultation they can do so at www.nda.dialoguebydesign.net.

One of the main recommendations emerging from the review was that the local arrangements around sites should be looked at again to establish how well they are working. The main purpose will be to clarify and help improve the relationships and communications between Site Stakeholder Groups (SSGs) and the National Stakeholder Group, NDA and local communities. The objectives are:

  • To review the current role, remit and objectives of the SSGs
  • To revise the local arrangements for NDA stakeholder arrangements, where appropriate
  • To produce revised guidance on the roles, responsibilities and operations of SSGs in order to help them to better achieve their objectives.

The initial data gathering for this new review will be taking place between now and November ’07. We will be sending a questionnaire out to local and national stakeholders to find out their views. If anybody would like to take part please contact Sarah Graham at [email protected].
