Engaging with the public and young people
We are continuing to add to the discussion of best practice in
public engagement. In June and July Dr
Amy Sanders, one of our Project Managers will be presenting
papers at two conferences based on her Dialogue by Design project
with the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM).
The Participatory Approaches in Science and Technology (PATH) Conference
to be held on 4-7 June 2006 in Edinburgh, aims to explore how best
to involve stakeholders and the public in policy development and
decision-making on science and technology issues. Amy will be talking
about how the public can be drawn into discussion about science
issues using the nuclear debate as an example. See http://www.macaulay.ac.uk/PATHconference
              for further information.
At the British Interactive Group Annual Conference in Manchester
on 26-28 July Amy will be describing methods used in creating a
forum where young people can express their views and how she worked
towards creating best practice policies for disseminating this information
on to working parties and policy makers. See http://www.big.uk.com/events/index.htm
